This half term's Christian value is 'compassion'. We hold an introductory worship to talk about what compassion means and what it looks like in action. We relate the value to the teachings in the bible. There are many stories in the Bible about Jesus showing compassion and noticing the needs of others. Once he went off in a boat to find a place away from the crowds with his disciples where they could rest as he was always being followed, like a modern day celebrity. But when he reached the shore on the other side of the lake, there were yet more people wanting to hhim to help them and heal those who were ill.

The Bible says:

When Jesus saw the crowd his heart was filled with compassion, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things. (MARK 6:34)

Jesus always put the needs of others before his own. He showed his love for them by being compassionate.

This Friday we are demonstrating compassion in action by raising money for children In need. We are holding a non uniform day for a suggested donation of £1. This money will help children and young people who are ill or disadvantaged and need some help. We are living out our values by making a difference.
